Greenville, South Carolina

In April, 2015, two of my best friends, Steven Nelson and Jason Welch, moved to Greenville, South Carolina to continue growing their bow tie company, The Good South. I had never even given thought to Greenville, SC as it was roughly eight hours away and I didn't know a soul there. After a little over a year, I was finally able to make it out here and see first hand why Steven and Jason love this place so much. Through some of the photos, you can see why this is an incredible, vivacious, growing, revitalized city that has something new to offer every single day.

Started the week off by venturing around downtown and visiting Reedy River Historic Park and Greenway. People come throughout the day to sit, relax, read, and take pictures. Peaceful and tranquil.

Throughout downtown, you'll find a multitude of hand painted murals on the brick buildings. Some old, some new, but all of them add to the artistic, revitalized downtown.

Greenville, South Carolina, has a rich history in the textile industry dating back to the late 1800′s. As late as 1980 Greenville had earned recognition as Textile Center of the World.

Every Wednesday evening throughout the summer, Greenville has an outdoor concert series on the TD Stage overlooking the Reedy River. The concerts are free to all, and offers an enticing atmosphere to drink, dance, and be with friends. Honey and the Hot Rods put on a great show.

A mere eight mile bike ride down the Swamp Rabbit Trail you'll reach Furman University. The eight miles are traveled by many, at all times during the day, as it is a scenic route through the heart of Greenville, SC.

Upon rounding a corner along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, Furman Lake pops out of nowhere as the backdrop to this beautiful campus. This school ranks in America's Most Beautiful Campuses, and it's to see why.

Getting to meet close friends of friends, I also got to meet Mellie. She's a Cavachon (Cavalier and Bichon mix). She's the funniest dog that looks like a stuffed animal when she shows you her big brown eyes. Thanks Brittany Hall for letting Mellie out for a photoshoot.

Saturday mornings in downtown Greenville are reserved for the Farmer's Market. The city shuts down four blocks for local farmers, artists, and restaurants to set up and sell to the people of the city. The streets were packed as the weather was a cool 80 degrees and slightly overcast. The harvest this week was amazing as all of the farmers had beautiful displays of their labor.

A mile or two from Main Street, you enter a neighborhood that could be used in film. These houses paint the picture of a beautiful southern town with all of it's charm and special touches that make it unique to the state.

Greenville sculptor, Zan Wells, worked with Jim Ryan to bring his idea of Mice on Main to life. There are nine unique mice placed from the Hyatt to the Westin Poinsett Hotel and now serves as a scavenger hunt for children of all ages.

Until next time, Greenville. Thanks for having me.

Cheers,
